The Valor Project: Mudroom + Powder Bath

We’re back at the Valor Project, my friends, and into one of my favorite parts: the mudroom and powder bathroom!

Starting with the mudroom, let’s remember where we started…

It’s a closet, y’all. A closet. This project will make you see the possibilities of the closet (we also turned two small closets into two work nooks in the family room – they’re adorable).

We wanted to turn this area into a landing and prep spot for this sweet family. It’s right off the garage, and opens up to the laundry room, leading to the powder bath and wine storage area.

I am IN LOVE with the texture of the beadboard! And the way the brass hooks pop against the dark gray-blue-black paint (color is Cheating Heart by Benjamin Moore). Each member of the family has two shelves, a hook, and an enclosed upper cabinet – what more could you want?!

For a high traffic, rough-use area like this, a semi-gloss finish works best. It also makes the dark color more dynamic by being slightly reflective.

Now onto the powder room!

There’s a lot happening in such a small space. The vanity, the wallpaper, the tile, the…everything. Gots. To. Go.

I just want to clap it’s so much better. Swapping the vanity for a pedestal sink makes the room infinitely more spacious. The dark paint nods to the cabinetry outside, and looks incredible when combined with the brass faucet and mirror.
A powder room should be dramatic, fun, and functional. Check check check.
