The Weekend Haps – May 23

Lifestyle

Oh hi there. How are you? Me? It’s been a week, to be honest. I ended up driving myself to the emergency room in the middle of the night on Monday in the most pain I think I have ever experienced. The symptoms read a lot like appendicitis, but a CT scan revealed that I actually had an ovarian cyst rupture. Have you ever had one of these, ladies? I’d heard tale of the pain, but had never had one myself until now. Needless to say, I do NOT wish to relive that experience. Anywho…

In case you missed it…

  • Mondays are turning out to be “reveal days” over here on the blog, and this week’s was our family room. I included links, renovation details, and more, so be sure to check it out.

  • On Thursday, I fleshed out some thoughts I’ve had for a while around the importance of intentionally listening to the experiences and thoughts of those different than yourself. Be it through the books you read, the movies you watch, or whom you choose to follow on Instagram, I think there is extreme value in hearing and understanding differing perspectives. I could go on and on, but I already have, so click here to read my little “essay”.

Now for the haps…

  • So I had completely forgotten about Banana Republic. Just fell off my radar. But thanks to some well-placed ads, this place has my attention again. In fact, I just ordered two dresses (this one and this one), and am already regretting not grabbing a few other pieces (like this cutie pie of a romper). They’re having a huge sale, so check them out and be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

  • We were supposed to be on vacation in the Dominican Republic this week (the boys were so excited about getting passports!), but you know…the ‘rona. So we settled for backyard camping instead. We use this tent and are so happy with it every single time we use it. It’s a great size for our family, has a cabin light, and – best of all – sets up SO easily.

  • These are my favorite pair of shoes I own, no question. I’ve worn them hiking in the dessert in Morocco, to weddings, on dates, and to the park with the boys. Insanely comfortable, flattering, and on super sale. Get them, you won’t regret it.

  • I just started watching this show, and I’m hooked (all the obligatory cautions around language and content blah blah blah). It’s a fascinating (satirical) story, visually wonderful, and so well-acted.

So that’s us. What are you up to? Are you or your family planning any staycations or small trips this summer? Do share – I need ideas on how to make this summer feel special for our boys!

xo,

sarah
